Holocaust Memorial Day: Museum Trip 2022

THE HOLOCAUST AND GENOCIDE

Holocaust Memorial Day is the day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.

The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2022 is One Day

You didn’t think about yesterday, and tomorrow may not happen, it was only today that you had to cope with and you got through it as best you could.

Iby Knill, survivor of the Holocaust

Join us on in March (TBC) for a trip to the National Holocaust Centre and Museum. The National Holocaust Centre and Museum promotes an understanding of the roots of discrimination and prejudice, and the development of ethical values, leading to a greater understanding within society. The Centre uses the history of genocide as a model of how society can break down, and emphasises how current and future generations must carefully examine and learn from these tragedies. The overall cost of the trip is £5, which covers all transport and the entry fee to the museum

Those in the following unions have their ticket cost subsidised:  UCU, Unite or Unison.

The trip has been led by Curtis Burbidge (Holocaust Memorial Trust), Collina Angus and jointly funded by representatives of the University, LSU, and trade unions and a registered anonymous charity.
